NEW MATERIAL:A propane derivative of formula I (R<1> is alkyl; one of the R<2>-R<4> is methyl and the other two are H) or its pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salt. EXAMPLE:1-(4-Acetamido-2-methoxyphenoxy)-3-(4-phenylpiperazino)-2-methyl- propane. USE:It has intracranial pressure lowering activity and central nervous system depressing activity, and is useful as a remedy for lowering intracranial pressure. It is also useful as tranquilizer, analgesic and antiemetic. PROCESS:A compound of formula II is made to react with a compound of formula III (one of R<2>'-R<4>' is methyl and the other two are H; Y is reactive group or atom) to obtain a compound of formula IV and/or formula V, which is, if necessary, converted to a pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salt. |
