Polymeric compositions comprising a polyolefin polymer and a flame retarding amount of a compound of the formula: wherein both X's are identical and selected from oxygen and sulfur, wherein m is an integer from 1 to 5 and n is an integer from 1 to 5; the compound suitably contains at least 45% by weight halogen; the compositions are useful where flame retarding polyolefin polymer compositions are desired.
