Whereas film or video records carry a channel for the serial frame number or time reference, subsequent viewing is required for producing a finished shortened version. This is ideally carried out in off-line operation when only a real time signal generator is connected via a change-over switch to a signal processor and storage unit, while the TV record is replayed and viewed on the monitor. By means of a selector-key board the operator may select the beginning and end of an event passage within the monitored movie etc. in order to associate with it a serial number, a heading, an instruction, and/or a real time reference. These data are then entered into the data store and displayed. Once this off-line data entry is completed the switch is changed to its other position connecting the recorder to the data processor, reading out the time reference channel. These data are compared with the stored time entries and when coincidence occurs the marker data are automatically written into the reference channel on the video tape or film.
|
