The swing-disc valve is intended for controlling the inlet or outlet of solid, partic. fine granular material, e.g into or from a pneumatic transport system and provides an air-tight closure. The closure disc (1) is provided with a protective shield (2) which prevents the material from settling on the seating surfaces when opened. There may be an empty space (4) between the disc and the shield. A resilient sealing element (3) may be arranged at the underside of the shield. A gas purge inlet (9) may connect to the empty space (4') below the element.
