<p>The pump has two meshing rotors (4) within a casing (6). The rotor shafts (2) extend through side walls (11,12) into oil filled side chambers (15,16) which house the gears (18). The shaft seals through the side walls are formed by annular packings (23,24;25,26). Each packing is dished and the two packings in each seal have the dished edges facing each other with an annular space (27,28) between them. Flow and return passages (29,31;32,33) through the casing allow cooling liquid to circulate through the annular space in each seal. This gives the advantages of stuffing boxes without any risk of overheating.</p> |
