<p>Cephalosporin derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new: R1 is CO2R1', CN or CONH2 R1' is 1-3C alkyl, H or an equiv. of an alkali or alkaline earth metal Mg, NH4 or organic amine base. A is as R1', other than alkyl. R' and R" are each H or 1-3C alkyl. Provisos are that (a) A is H when R1=COOH; (b) A is equiv. of a salt-forming cation when R1 is COOR;' and R1' is an equiv. of a salt-forming cation. The gp. -O.C(R')(R")R1 has the syn configuration. (I) are antibacterials effective against Gram negative and positive species including penicillin-resistant staphylococci. They are administered in conventional formulations, e.g. at 0.25-4 g/day orally. A typical cpd. is 7- 2-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-2-carbethoxymethyl-oxyimino-acetamido - -3-acetoxymethyl-ceph-3-em-4-carboxylic acid.</p> |
