Granulated fuels made from cereal straw - in machine normally used to mfr. cattle food, and where granules are employed in fuel gas generators for IC engines or boilers boilers

The straw is treated in a known type of chopping and dry granulation machine normally used for mfg. cattle food based on dehydrated lucerne. Between chopping and granulation, 5-20 wt.% addns. are pref. made, consisting of waste from sugar mills or the distn. of beet, such as a residual liq. or molasses; and/or a similar amt. of waste obtd. in paper mfr; and/or a similar amt. of heavy fuel oil No.2. The granules are pref. used for driving motor vehicles, using a granule reservoir from which the granules are fed into a gas generator, esp. by a feeder screw. The granules can also be used in heating plants, boilers etc. The fuel has twice the density of wood, so it can be stored in a smaller space, and is much drier than wood so tar is not formed in the gas generator.
