An optical display is built into a loudspeaker system that uses signals collected from the loudspeaker cone. For a bass loudspeaker an inner cone membrane (1) is secured at the lip to a flexible ring (2) and is supported within the speaker core (6). The electromagnetic exciter consists of a coil (7), pole core (10), yoke (11) and pole plate (12). A light emitting diode (16) is located at the centre of the speaker and is visible through a transparent cap (15). Wires (19) couple direct with pickups (13a,13b) located on the outer cone (3).
