In a system for the treatment of pollutants, specially of waste gases, vapours, effluents and slurries produced during the coal gasification, the pollutants are passed through a chemical process and thereby cracked thermally. In a coal carbonisation or gasification plant, the pollutants are recycled to the reactor, and the wash water from the gas scrubbers which contain a part of the contaminants is used as the gasification medium in the reactor. This requires only the extraction of Cl, F and S in elementary form or as cpds. from the process; all other contaminants are cracked by recycling and prevented from recurring so that their concn. is kept constant. |
