A tyre anti-skid device comprises a lateral member 14 intended to lie against a side of a tyre and having first and second end portions 14a, 14b, and means for releasably connecting together the end portions 14a, 14b to secure the device to the tyre including a belt 56a which extends a member 52, by which it is secured to the end portion 14a, and around a slide bar 64 of a buckle member 62 to terminate in an end 56b, the member 62 having a hook 66 engageable in an aperture 68 in a lug 50 secured to the end portion 14b. When the hook 66 is engaged in aperture 68 pulling the belt end 56b generally circumferentially of the tyre causes tensioning of the member 14, but drawing the end 56b away from the tyre (arrow 80 Fig. 7) causes the buckle member 62 to pivot to release the hook 66 from the aperture 68 for removal of the device from the tyre. <IMAGE> |
