PURPOSE:To obtain an image forming material having high sensitivity and high resolution and easily forming a film by using a specified methylpentene copolymer prepared by decomposing a methylpentene polymer or copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A methylpentene polymer or copolymer is decomposed to prepare a methylpentene copolymer contg. 50-<90mol% methylpentene units, having >=0.2dl/g intrinsic viscosity measured in decalin at 135 deg.C, and soluble in <=100 times by weight cyclohexane at 25 deg.C. The resulting copolymer is used as an image forming material, and a 4-methyl-1-pentene copolymer is desirably used. The resulting copolymer has 140-235, preferably about 180-230 deg.C maximum m.p. measured with a differential scanning calorimeter. |
