PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of nonuniform cooling on a body being cooled by a method wherein the cooling-air amount for the first cooling chamber is controlled in accordance with the temperature of the body being treated at the outlet of a final cooling chamber, in a process of cooling the body to be treated by a continuous annealing equipment provided with at least two jet cooling chambers. CONSTITUTION:The treated body 1 annealed by heating to a predetermined temperature in a heating zone is firstly fed into the first jet cooling chamber 2 and cooled rapidly. Then, the body 1 is passed through a low-temperature holding zone 3 into the next jet cooling chamber 4 and is taken out via an outlet port 5. In the chamber 4, cooling-air blowing fans are rotated by motors 6, 6 at an rpm set on a setter T, maintaining a fixed cooling-air amount. The temperature of the body 1 is measured by a radiation thermometer 7 at the outlet port 5, and the measurement signal is fed into a temperature indicating controller TIC through a signal converter A. The controller TIC controls the rpm of a blowing-fan motor 8 in the chamber 2 in accordance with the magnitude of the converted temperature signal, thereby maintaining the temperature of the body 1 discharged via the outlet port 5 at a constant temperature. |
