The bolted connection closes a drive-belt (1) using bolts (6) through angle irons (2) to clamp the belt (1) end returns together. It incorporates a wedge (9) anchorage which obviates belt shearing at bolt holes. The arrangement allows belt slack to be taken up. The irons (2) have a round angle 'L' section with a terminal outward cranking (2a) of the outstand. Packing pieces (3) provide normal seats for the nuts (7) and bolt (6) heads. Two similarly tapered plates (9) are bolted (11) onto the belt ends (1a,1b) to form the wedge. The plate taper (9a) is identical to the angle through which outstands are cranked (2a). The plate length (9) may equal the angle iron (2) width, and the active plate faces may be indented (9b).
|
