The planetary gear pump or motor comprises a housing (1) in which a central pinion (4) meshes with the internal gear teeth of an eccentric sun wheel (3). External gear teeth on the sun wheel mesh with (three) planet gear wheels (2) which, in turn, mesh with internal gear teeth arranged in the housing on a contour determined by the precession of the sun wheel. The planet wheels define sealed chambers with cyclically varying volumes between them and the housing is provided with inlet and outlet ports. The arrangement permits its use as a motor or combustion engine, or as pump, vacuum pump or compressor.
