The heater has an insulating support with a resistance heating wire wound around it. The wire's turns rest against support edges. The support (10) has connection terminals (36,38,40) at the end connection points of the wire in which each wire end is fixed by crimping the associated terminal together. The connection terminals have U-shaped clamping pieces whose crimp flaps define an inlay gap and that project at least partially beyond one support edge of the support. The inlay gap is arranged w.r.t. the wire turns such that the wire ends extend roughly parallel to the gap at the beginning and end of the wire winding.
