Heat pump for hot water supply - uses compressor and turbine on common drive shaft to circulate warmed air through heat exchanger

The method of heating water uses a heat pump which extracts heat from the air (5). The air is drawn through a duct past a compressor (1) to obtain heated air which is fed through a pipe (7) into a heat exchanger (4). The output line (8) from the heat exchanger is connected to another duct enclosing a turbine (2) on the same drive shaft as the compressor. The heat exchanger has supply and return lines (9,10) for the water heated by the air circulated through it. The compressor may be used with a supercharger. The incoming air (5) may be preheated by a solar heating system.
