An electrical power supply arrangement e.g. for aircraft de-icing heaters, includes a generator 11 having a field winding 17, the current supply from the generator 11 being sequentially switched to heaters 10 through a switching circuit 14 under control of a further circuit 16. The circuit 16 supplies a control signal A to a circuit 18 for reducing the voltage to the field winding 17 when switching operations of the circuit 14 are to be carried out, so that switching only occurs when current flow from the generator 11 is substantially zero. The control signal A effectively reduces to zero the reference voltage VR which is compared with the generator output voltage in an amplifier 22 in order to adjust the field winding current and so regulate the generator voltage. <IMAGE> |
