ELECTROOPTIC DISPLAY CELLS AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME USING MULTIPLE PATTERNS

Multiple arrays of electrode patterns and screen-printed patterns of a glass frit mixture are applied to substrate sheet material suitable for front and back substrates of a liquid crystal cell and the frit is vitrified by firing. Subsequent operation of scribing and breaking of substrate sheet material through frit and electrode patterns provides multiple substrates, with frit and electrodes extending fully to the substrate edges. Subsequently the substrates are sealed together by remelting the frit.
