PURPOSE:To prevent the toner from sticking on areas other than those corresponding to an original and from causing faults by exposing the areas other than the areas where the writing and picture information is formed on a uniformly charged recording body by means of a light beam in an electrophotographic method for obtaining an electrostatic latent image by scanning the light beam on said recording body. CONSTITUTION:A drumlike recording body 1 is uniformly charged by a charger 2. Next, the light beam L from a light source 5 scans an exposure area 4 by a scanning optical system 6. Thence, the toner is supplied and the image is developed by a developing device 3. If at the time of performing positive-positive recording in this manner only the area corresponding to the area of the width (l) of the original is scanned, the toner sticks on the parts 8 other than the area corresponding to the original, at both end parts of the recording body 1, and this gives adverse influence upon cleaning and other processes. In order to prevent this, even the parts 8 are scanned wider than the width (l) area by the light beam L along the scanning line S-S. In this way, common unit and process is employed for ordinary electrophotographic copiers. |
