PURPOSE:To improve the yield with hardly any by-products, by using a specific compound together with a ruthenium compound, cobalt compound and alkali metal halide in liquid-phase homogeneous catalytic reaction for directly obtaining the titled compound from carbon monoxide and hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:Carbon monoxide and hydrogen as raw materials are brought into contact with a ruthenium compound, e.g. ruthenium carbonyl, etc., or cobalt compound, e.g. cobalt acetylacetonate, etc., as a catalyst and an alkali metal halide as a cocatalyst in the coexistence of an alkali metal compound without containing a halogen in an organophosphine oxide as a liquid medium at a high temperature under a high pressure, preferably at a temperature within the range of 180-260 deg.C under a pressure within the range of 300-500kg/cm<2> to afford the aimed compound. The amount of the alkali metal compound without containing the halogen used is preferably within the range of 0.5-10g atoms based on 1g alkali metal halide. |
