<p>A plastic needle for sewing e.g. canvas has an eye of variable size. The eye of the needle has thin parts let into the sides, so that the eye may be widened by pressing the head of the needle on to a hard surface. Coarse yarn or wool may thus be admitted into the eye, which holds the yarn tight on release of pressure. The needle does not become unthreaded during sewing. It is specially designed for children's use, since the plastic construction avoids the dangers encountered with a metal needle.</p> |
