<p>Powders, and synthetic rubber in particular, are compressed into blocks using a container between a top sliding plate and a pressure cylinder. A hopper feeds the container which is closed off by the sliding plate and receives a vertically moving ram. Hydraulic cylinders are fitted to the outside of the container, they lift it to close a gap between the sliding plate and the top of the container, the main vertical ram is first energised at low pressure and then at high pressure when the above gap is closed. Pressure container is fully sealed and air is effectively excluded from the pre-pressed mass.</p> |
