<p>The Parent Patent 2939375 described a revolving pigtail type of brake for threads. This has now been replaced by rounding off the base of the groove in the thread brake roller and by allowing a thread guide roll, fitted with a soft lining, to roll along the groove with a suitably shaped profile. This guide roll is mounted on a hinged lever so that it can move like a pendulum and guide the thread free from sliding friction. This is an effective way of eliminating the formation of fluff on fine-gauge natural fibres.</p> |
