A locking device for securing a slip-over forwardly projecting adapter (11) to an excavator lip (10), comprising a C-clamp (18) and a wedge (19) for releasably locking the slip-over adapter (11) to the lip (10) wherein serrations (26, 27) on the wedge (19) are interlocked with serrations (31,32) on a resilient lock member (20) received within the clamp (18) and uniquely stabilized by confining sidewalls (36) on the clamp (18).
