Contaminated air filters in removable containers - remotely clamped to air system ducts esp. of processing plant for nuclear installations

The parent patent describes filter elements comprising changing equipment and contamination protection housed in waste storage vessels and intended for the sepn. of toxic, esp. radioactive dust from breathing air and process air. In this addition, one filter plant consists of two series-connected standard waste containers(2), of 200 or 400 litre capacity. One container comprises a single-stage or two-stage granular or sand bed filter while the other comprises a suspended solids filter. The two containers are connected by a closable air duct(25) joining together their two removable hoods(36,40). Each container has a separate central pipe with its own valve(34,42) for inlet and outlet respectively of air, connected to wedge- shaped or tapering feed and return ducts(37,43). The containers (2) together with their incorporated filters are each clamped to the top hoods or covers(36,40) at four points by lever- actuated clamping systems (not illustrated in detail); these clamping systems are remotely operated or can be tightened or released by hand. Used partic. for the various decontamination processes involved in the dismantling of nuclear power plants and the like when they are no longer required.
