The gripping member for a vehicle safety belt, has jaws for opening a closing to permit adjustment. It also has two gripping plates (1,2), one plate (2) having locating lugs (5) projecting from its inside face, which fit into corresponding recesses (4) in the other plate (1). These carry on their outside faces a pattern of horizontal ribs (7) and vertical ribs(s) forming a retaining system for a bent wire (9,10,11) acting as a spring. Each plate terminates in an extension (3) forming a gripping member. This allows the two plates to be gripped and sprung open about a vertical axis corresponding to the vertical legs (9,10) of the spring. The vertical legs of the spring form a hairpin loop (11) around the bottoms of the plates, the loop being retained by a groove (12) across the bottom edge of each plate.
|
