PURPOSE:To manufacture a catalyst having a high strength, a wide contact area, and a great catalytic reaction efficiency by using a bulky glass roving cloth as a catalyst support, whose one side is raised into a glass filament shape. CONSTITUTION:As a fibrous element for the glass fiber support of catalyst, E-glass of a heat resistance temperature of 200-400 deg.C or a silica glass of a heat resistance temperature of 500 deg.C or higher, which are easy to fibrillate, is used. One side of a glass fiber roving cloth is raised into a glass filament shape to make its bulk density 1-15cm<3>/g in order to a bulky cloth as a catalyst support. The support is then coated thinly with various catalysts. Thus, a catalyst which has good gas and liquid permeability, a great contact area, a high strength, and excellent catalytic reaction efficiency, as well as less blinding trouble with impurities, can be obtained. |
