<p>A key mechanism for electronic musical instruments is designed to generate a note of sound level dependent upon how hard the key is operated. The key consists of a lever (3,4) pivotted (2) at a fixed location. The key carries a mass (7) that moves between two energy absorbing felt pads (17,18). A moving contact wire (10) is moved by a bar (11) on the key between two contacts (12,13). The time taken to move between the two contacts determines the sound level and this is fixed by how quickly the key moves in response to force (P) and the mass (7) and coil spring (8) dynamics.</p> |
