Vulcanizable rubber compositions are inhibited from premature vulcanization by the presence in the compositions of compounds of the formula <CHEM> wherein X is oxygen or sulfur, R is a C1-C12 primary or secondary alkyl radical, said alkyl radical substituted by formyl or C2-C7 acyl, C7-C10 aralkyl, C5-C12 cycloalkyl, or R2; R1 is C1-C12 alkyl, C7-C10 aralkyl, C5-C12 cycloalkyl or R2; R2 is phenyl, naphthyl or phenyl substituted by (-R3)x wherein x is 1, 2 or 3; and R3 is C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 alkylthio, chloro, bromo, cyano or nitro. |
