Mechanically laid plastic drain-pipe length - has separate filtering material wrapped round from vehicle and fixed by soil compaction

A supply of assembled pipe units is held on a laying vehicle, and laid via a guideway, without a trench, as it moves forward, to provide a length of plastic drain pipe, with a filter sheath wrapped round it lengthways. A separate supply of a length of pref. thin filtering material (42), also brought on the vehicle, is taken from it and wrapped round the automatically forwarded drain length (41), with overlap. The drain pipe, with unsecured sheath, is led along until the soil behind fixes the sheath in position on it. In a mechanical process, installation of a full-filter pipe length is feasible without the use of sheathing.
