The four-stroke combustion engine comprises two parallel cylinders (2) with reciprocating pistons (3) and inlet and exhaust valves (12) in the cylinder head. The piston tops are provided with projections which act as blades causing the pistons to rotate about their axes during their reciprocating motion to produce a vortex for optimum combustion. The piston rods may carry conical wheels (5) engaging cam grooves (7) in the cylinder walls, and gear wheels (9) at their lower ends meshing with a central gear (10) on the engine output shaft (8). The exhaust flow may be directed on to a turbine rotor at the upper end of the shaft.
|
