Endosperm (I) is sepd. from comminuted oat bran (II) as follows: (a) a mixt. of (II) (contg. (I)) and a solvent is dispersed by impact and attrition without shear; and (b) (I) is sepd. from the resulting mixt. Solvent is pentane, hexane, heptane, cyclohexane, a 1-4C alcohol, or a liq. 1-2C chlorofluoro-carbon, or mixts.. Process gives higher yields of (I) (and protein) from (I)-contg. bran. (I) may be sepd. into proteinaceous fractions, or used in breakfast cereals, baby foods, etc. |
