Anchor for fibre reinforced bars in concrete base - uses friction clamp providing lateral force by wedges secured by bolts

Bars made of glass or carbon fibre reinforced plastics are anchored to a concrete base by a friction clamp. The bars (11-13) are interspaced with steel or aluminium plates (20-23) and the assembly is fitted inside a square section tube (14). Two matching wedges (30,31) are fitted between the outer plate (23) and one wall (29) of the square tube (14). A bolt (41) which passes through holes in the wedges is tightened by a nut (33) and exerts a lateral force on the plates which clamps the bars. The force exerted by the bolt (41) is limited by a stack of disc springs (37).
