Cutting leading and trailing ends off moving hot rolled strip - by pairs of cutters in swivel frame alternately moved in cutting position

The shearing machine is intended for cutting the leading and trailing ends off a moving strip of rolled material, pref. whilst hot. It comprises two pairs of cutters (22', 24' ) to cut the respective leading and trailing end. The cutters are arranged in a swivel frame (9), one cutter (e.g. the lower cutters 24') of each pair being held in a carrier therein whilst the others (e.g. the higher cutters 22') are held by a slide (12) which is movable in the frame (9) in the direction of the carrier on guides (31' by a drive mechanism (3,10,11). The pairs are alternately moved into the cutting position.
