PURPOSE:To detect a flaw on roll surface at an early stage and improve the yielding rate of a product, by inspecting the intervals between roll marks made on the surface of rolled metal at the exit of rolling mill and comparing these with standard interval. CONSTITUTION:As soon as the rolling work is started, a computer 9 continues checking the existence of roll mark on rolled metal 1 by means of the output instructed from a defect detector 7. If any roll mark is detected, the computer 9 begins counting the output pulse sent from a pulse generator 8, which is for use of inspecting the running speed of rolled metal. Secondly, the computer stops the counting when a next roll mark is detected and memorizes a value of the counting and compare the count value P with predetermined standard value Q for flaws on roll surface of the rolling mill 2. When the difference between P and Q is within a range of error, the computer will judge that some flaw occurred on roll surface of the rolling mill 2 and immediately transmit the output to a display unit 1 and further instruct the output to a motor controller 6 to stop the rolling mill. |
