A method of making an overlayed product with comminuted cellulosic material as the core thereof comprising;producing a furnish of the comminated cellulosic material by mixing with an organic polyisocyanate which operates upon the application of heat and pressure to bond the material; preparing a sheet overlay with phenol formaldehyde resin distributed in said overlay toward said mat; and said overlay to form an integral product by the application of heat and pressure, the phenol-formaldehyde resin dring such consolidation forming a resinous barrier inhibiting penetration of the polyisocyanate through the overlay.
