Spectrophotometer for analysing chemical components flowing in a liq. chromatographic system comprises a multiple wavelength electromagnetic wave source which is intercepted and dispersed into a spectrum. A closed loop servo positioning mechanism simultaneously directs selected portions of the electromagnetic spectrum to a detector which analyses these portions of the spectrum. The spectrophotometer uses selected bands of electromagnetic radiation for the rapid analysis of liq. or gas solns.
