The method prints an item passed underneath a screen-printing stencil turning about a vertical axis, there being a wiper above the stencil with pattern. The pattern is applied without interruption two or more times in succession to the oblong item. The portion of the stencil on which the pattern is accommodated can be arranged to rotate in a horizontal plane, or alternately in one forming a truncated cone surface. The central part of the stencil can be pressed elastically downwards in relation to the edge accommodating the pattern.
