PURPOSE:To prevent the oxide film produced on a strip from being transferred to roll surfaces by holding the temp. of a roll chamber housing deflector rolls at below the temp. of the strip passing therethrough. CONSTITUTION:Opening parts 7' through which a strip 6 can pass are opened in the communicating part between a direct fire nonoxidation furnace and a reducing furnace, and a roll chamber 14 housing deflector rolls 13 is formed by means of partition walls 7. The gas in this roll chamber 14 is cooled by way of a heat exchanger 8, is boosted by a boosting device 9 and is returned again into the roll chamber 14. On the other hand, the temp. in the roll chamber 14 is detected with a thermometer 10, and a flow rate control valve 12 is controlled by way of a temp. control unit 11 to control the gas flow to be returned to the rool chamber 14, whereby the temp. in the chamber 14 is kept at the same as or lower than the temp. of the strip 6, and the rolls 13 is thus cooled. The transfer of scale to the rolls 13 is thereby prevented. |
