Side window for performance car - has fixed main section and lower strip with opening control

A side window for a performance car has the main section of the window pane (2) fixed and with a lower strip (3) which can be dropped to form a slot opening. The slot allows hand signals and provides some measure of fresh air. The narrow window only requires a shallow duct into which the window gear operates and allows maximum crush protection in the side of the car. The narrow window provides sufficient access to ticket machines etc. without requiring complex window gear. The windows need not be opened further than the slot with modern air conditioning in the car.
