A process for the production of gentamicins or more specifically a mixture of gentamicins C1, C2 and C1a by the aerobic fermentation of a new species Micromonospora scalabitana closely related to Micromonospora narashinoensis in suitable medium containing assimilable sources of carbon and nitrogen, calcium carbonate and several trace elements.
