<p>Spring loaded upper and lower pins slide in holes in the case and the cylinder, which is rotatably mounted, with key channel, in a lock with provision for variable coding. One or more of the pin units has one or more withdrawable pieces (3). The withdrawable pieces are removable from the holes (12) by a corresponding key, without dismantling the cylinder (4) enabling the length ratio between upper and lower pin (1) to be changed, so that keys (11) formerly used, no longer fit the lock. The removable pieces are pref. on the lower pins. The change is made without removing the inner cylinder, and without special tools or skills, and is esp. applicable to yale locks.</p> |
