1518219 Tunnel kiln construction KERAMAG KERAMISCHE WERKE AG and ADOLF A FLEISCHMANN 6 Sept 1976 [11 Sept 1975] 36797/76 Heading F4B A tunnel kiln is constructed in a number of sections, each formed by two side walls and at least one roof slab carried in a stationary supporting frame. The side slabs comprise layers of refractory and/or insulating materials 2a, 2b, 2c, Fig. 2, held together by ties 4 and supported by the uprights 1 of the frame and flanges 1c projecting from the pillars and linked by longitudinal member 1d. The roof slabs 3 are formed of layers of material 3a, 3b held by the tie-rods 4 secured to supporting beams 5 forming a framework resting on the side bars 1b of the frame, and provided with hooks 6 to enable a roof strut to be lifted and placed on rails 7 on an adjacent roof portion. Labyrinth type seals are formed between adjacent struts, and the longitudinal member 1d carry a sand seal trough 10 engaging a flange depending from the kiln trucks 9.
