<p>PURPOSE:To prepare the title antioxidant capable of suppressing the by-production of Glauber's salt with a slight amount of addition, by using a specific carboxylic acid (derivative) thioether as an effective component. CONSTITUTION:The oxidation of a sulfite and/or a bisulfite which are produced in the removal of sulfur dioxide gas from stack gas and can be utilized by recycling, is prevented by the use of an antioxidant containing at least one compound of formula (R and R' are H, alkali metal or 1-20C hydrocarbon; n and m are 1-20), e.g. thiodipropionic acid, dibutyl thiodipropionate and diphenyl thiodicaproate. The amount of the antioxidant to be added to the aqueous solution of the sulfite and/or bisulfite is pref. 0.01-1,000ppm based on the weight of the solution.</p> |
