A method of adjusting a pre-load on, or a clearance in, bearings and a bearing assembly constructed by this method, wherein a wheel hub is fixed to the outer side of a uniform volocity ball joint stem and two angular contact ball bearings or tapered roller bearings are installed between the hub and a steering knuckle. The bearing assembly comprises a spacer disposed between the inner races of the bearings on the hub, and the elastic deformation, plastic deformation and elastic restoring force of the spacer are utilized for pre-loading adjustment or clearance adjustment of the bearings in the bearing assembly. |
