Heaters A and B are disposed in the housing 17 of an escalator, and have conduits 5, 5<SP>1</SP>, arranged to direct hot air on teeth 10 of landing platforms 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. In addition, a conduit 6 directs air on to the steps 16A of the escalator. Each heater A. B comprises a fan 2 having an adjustable outlet, and a thermostatically controlled radiator 2. A microswitch (not shown) may control a valve or thermostat controlling an on-off switch in the power circuit of the radiator 2 to prevent overheating. |
