PURPOSE:To contemplate improving the liquid leakage proofness of a sealed small alkaline battery empolying an insulation packing made of nylon, by adjusting the water content of the insulation packing before the battery is sealed. CONSTITUTION:An insulation packing 6 made of nylon is force-fit in a negative electrode can 4 to make a negative electrode unit, into which a negative electrode compound and electrolyte solution 5 are filled. The so-prepared negative electrode unit is then assembled with a positive electrode can 1 with the insulation packing 6 interposed therebetween so as to hermetically seal the thus-assembled battery. In the above assembly, the water content of the insulation packing 6 at the time when the packing 6 is force-fit in the negative electrode can 8 is adjusted to one wt% or less. |
