<p>Tensioning and transport device comprises a pair of rotating cylinders with hemispherical ends, one cylinder situated before and one behind the sewing point. To position and orient the fabric edge, at least one of the cylinders incorporates a ring of toothed wheels arranged radially w.r.t. the cylinder axis and meshing with a central worm, by which the ring wheels can be rotated simultaneously to move the fabric at right angles to the sewing line. The device is controlled by an edge-monitoring device which keeps the edge of the fabric automatically in alignment as the tube is rotated beneath the sewing point. The device is simple to control, and reliable in operation. It can move the fabric edge quickly and uniformly in either direction across the sewing line, for an indefinite distance.</p> |
