PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head of high sensitivity easily by forming a coating layer of a magnetic material of high saturation magnetic flux density on an internal wall surface at least near the gap part of a core half and then by polishing its tape slide surface and surface adjacent to the gap part. CONSTITUTION:On the internal wall of core half 20 made of ferrite, etc., coating layer 22 is formed out of a material of high saturation magnetic flux density, such as an Fe-Al-Si magnetic alloy, by plasma melt-spraying. Next, it is polished along lines A1 and A2 to form a butt surface, tape slide surface and gap adjacent surface. Then, it is cut along line C corresponding to a track width to obtain thin-piece core half 20a. Then, this is made to butt against core half 20b formed in the same way and between coating layers 22a and 22b and the opposite surfaces, gap spacer 24 is interposed to obtain a magnetic head. Thus, the magnetic head of work precision with high sensitivity can be obtained easily at a high yield. |
