A walking doll comprises a lower body 5 pivoted at 7 to an upper body 4 such that a swinging motion is imparted to the upper body by a suitable mechanism, the swinging resulting in the legs 3 alternately pivoting so as to provide a walking the legs being interconnected by a cross-bar 18 pivoted at its centre about a support 17 rigidly attached to the lower part of the body. Excessive tilting of 5 with respect to 4 is prevented by stops 4a. The mechanism comprises electric motor 9 which drives shaft 9a, and thereby imparts rotation to eccentric pin 15a mounted on disc 15. In turn rod 16, engaged by 15a, imparts a swinging motion to 4, 16 being rigidly attached by boss 5a to 5. Movement and 4 imparted thus, displaces laterally the centre of gravity of the toy. Also in 5 is formed boss 5b, supporting rod 17, on which is mounted cross-bar 18, the ends of 18 being contained in forks at the end of arms 19, each of which is fixed at 20 to legs 3, which in turn are mounted on axle 21. Pivoting of one leg, as a result of swinging the body, causes an opposite movement of the other leg. Crossbar 18 may be mounted at its centre on a foot to enable angular locking of the bar. The feet 3' may be weighted to improve the walking action. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,137,534.</p> |
